A man was arrested after he was accused of touching young girls at a Dollar General in Bethany, police said.
John Mills, 26, was arrested on two complaints of lewd acts with a child under 16 and one complaint of clandestine photos.
Officers said they received a call from a mother on Tuesday. She told police her two daughters were touched inappropriately at the Dollar General on Council Road.
“Officers were watching the video, the security camera video at the store, and we were able to see the suspect touching the two females and actually taking clandestine photos underneath another woman's skirt,” Bethany police Lt. Angelo Orefice said.
Police said the video footage showed the man doing this in the middle of the store. He even took photos at the checkout counter.
“According to security footage and subsequent interviews of the two juvenile females, he had done this to them approximately three or four different times throughout the store. For some reason or another, they just didn't say anything until they had left the store and talked to their mom because she was outside,” Orefice said.
The mom took a picture of the suspect's tag number. From there, officers were able to track down Mills at an apartment complex nearby. He was arrested and taken to the Oklahoma County Detention Center.
“You can just talk to your children and say, 'listen, if something like this happens, scream out loud as soon as it happens, go to another adult, find someone in the store that works there and point the person out.' The two girls involved did an excellent job by going to tell their mother,” Orefice said.
