Tulsa Sisters Start Cake Pop Business To Buy School Supplies For Kids In Need

Two Tulsa sisters are starting a cake pop business and using their profits to do something good.

The Adkins girls are all about family, hard work and giving back. They use the money they make from their new cake pop business to buy school supplies and clothes for other children in need.

"My favorite part of making the cakes is cracking the egg because I do it with one hand and I am like, 'I am so cool! I need to be on one of those baking shows,'" said 13-year-old Kylie Adkins. 

Kylie and her sister 10-year-old Isabella Adkins grew up helping their mom at Flo's Diner. They recently started a business of their own called Small Helping Hands.

"We do it [baking] at the Catoosa Diner and then we just wrap them up and then we come here and do it back there," said Isabella. 

They make and sell cake jars and cake push pops, but they use the profits to buy school supplies, clothes, and shoes for kids in need in the community.

"My mom does all those family meals and stuff and I thought it would be cool to do that for little kids," said Kylie. 

Their mom Brandy opens her restaurant as often as she can to serve free dinners to families in need. She has served hundreds of people now and her girls have been watching.

In the first week of business, Kylie and Isabella were able to raise enough money to buy ten pairs of shoes for kids at a Tulsa school.

The girls said their mom taught them a very valuable lesson.

"You never know what is going to happen to you," said Isabella.
