Norman police have identified 28-year-old Isis McMullen as the suspect in a homicide that happened in downtown Norman on Thursday.
Norman police responded to the 300 block of E. Comanche Street just after 6 p.m. Thursday. According to NPD, when they arrived McMullen fired at the officers.
Three officers returned fire, hitting McMullen. She sustained multiple gunshot wounds to her legs and arms. She was taken to a hospital for treatment.
McMullen was released from the hospital and booked on complaints of Murder in the First Degree, Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Possession of a Firearm after Felony Conviction.
According to police, McMullen shot 45-year-old James Pennington once in the back of the head before shooting him two additional times. Pennington was pronounced dead at the scene.
47-year-old Vernon Lewis was also hit by gunfire during the incident. He was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
The three officers involved will remain on routine administrative assignment pending the outcome of the investigation.
