The Tulsa Police Department will meet with the community on Tuesday to talk about installing special cameras that officers hope will help reduce crime in the city.
The Tulsa Police Department is partnering with a company called Flock Safety to install cameras in an effort to cut down on crime and make neighborhoods safer.
The department calls the partnership a technological advantage.
It will be for 12 months at no cost to taxpayers or the department as part of a trial.
Flock Safety claims its cameras capture specific details about cars that may have been involved in a crime, including license plates, the color and other information, like if it's frequently in an area.
In March, Tulsa county commissioners approved the agreement for 25 of these cameras. More could be added if authorities find a benefit to them.
Tuesday night's meeting is designed to explain more about why the cameras are being installed and where they'll be placed.
That meeting will be taking place Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. at Ellen Ochoa Elementary near 31st and Garnett.
