Vehicle Hits, Kills 74-Year-Old Man On Turner Turnpike In Lincoln County

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said 74-year-old man was hit and killed by a vehicle on the Turner Turnpike near the Wellston exit.

OHP Trooper Foster said it happened Saturday in the eastbound lanes where the man, Thien Tran, was on the side of the road working on a broken down car.

"It appears the motorist was outside of the vehicle when the vehicle struck them," Trooper Foster said.

OHP said one vehicle was able to avoid Tran, who was standing in the outside lane of traffic near his vehicle, but the next car was unable to switch lanes and it collided with him.

OHP said shortly after, another vehicle hit Tran.

The condition of Tran at the time of the crash is under investigation and OHP said the other two drivers cooperated with authorities.
