A long-standing ordinance in the Bricktown area could be changing.

On Tuesday, Oklahoma City councilors agreed to hear public comment on a proposal for earlier curfew for unsupervised teens.

City leaders said businesses they've talked to are on board.

You may have heard the expression, “nothing good happens after midnight.” But for unaccompanied juveniles in Bricktown that time is 11 p.m.

The curfew has been that way since 2006, but a shooting in December now has begged the question: Is 11 p.m. early enough?

After the shooting, Major Daniel Stewart with the Oklahoma City Police Department addressed the idea of moving the curfew back.

Stewart addressed the council to consider changing the curfew to 9 p.m.

If passed, unsupervised teens without a listed exception would be asked to move along.

Those unwilling could be committing a class A offense.
