Oklahoma City Police are investigating after a 16-year-old was shot Tuesday morning in the southwestern part of the city.
Investigators said this happened at around 7:20 a.m. in the parking lot of a PDQ Quick Stop near Southwest Grand Boulevard and South Walker Avenue.
Police said the shooting began as a fist fight, and that the department believes everyone involved was a student. It is unknown if they were all students at the nearby Capitol Hill High School.
At one point during the fight, police said a handgun was retrieved by someone involved in the fight when several shots were fired .
Officers said the 16-year-old was transported to the hospital.
The suspect fled the scene in a vehicle, police said.
Capitol Hill High School has resumed normal operations after a lockdown was put into place, and there will be additional security at the school throughout the afternoon.
The investigation is ongoing.
