What's today's forecast?

Early this morning, northern Oklahoma will see the arrival of a weak front, which will gradually move south throughout the day.

Wednesday Temperature Timeline

This will result in a range of temperatures. The far northern sections will experience slightly cooler conditions with highs in the mid-80s compared to yesterday, while southeastern Oklahoma may see temperatures close to 90 degrees.

Tonight, as the front nears or stalls south of I-40, there's a possibility for isolated showers in those areas, but the probability remains extremely low. The front is likely to either dissipate or shift northward as a weak warm front by late Wednesday into early Thursday.

What's the forecast for the rest of the week?

While there's a slight chance for showers along the boundary also early Thursday morning, the likelihood remains at or below 10%. Thursday will bring a strong upper-level wave over the northern High Plains, generating strong south winds ranging from 15 to 30 mph.

Wednesday Fire Risk

Morning temperatures will start in the upper 50s to lower 60s, with afternoon highs approaching 90. The fire spread rate will increase Thursday along and northwest of the I-44 corridor. As this strong system moves east, a more potent front will head south, leading to cooler conditions on Friday with north winds at 10 to 15 mph and highs settling in the upper 70s to low 80s.

Thursday High Temperatures

Early Friday, as the front moves into northeastern Oklahoma, there's a chance for scattered showers and storms, particularly in the extreme northeastern part of the state and southeastern Kansas. However, the probability for the metro area still remains at or below 10%.

Thursday/Friday Rain Zone

This front will bring some minor relief for the weekend with morning lows in the 50s and daytime highs in the mid-70s on Saturday and near 80 on Sunday.

A pattern change is possible next week as a strong northern flow shifts southward, coinciding with the development of a robust upper-level system across the western United States. This broad trough is expected to bring chances of showers and storms to the state by the middle to end of next week.

Additionally, one or possibly two fall-like fronts will approach, providing a preview of cooler weather. Before this transition, temperatures are expected to move back into the mid-80s during the early to middle part of next week. The early projection for late next week brings highs in the upper 60s and lower 70s. Stay tuned!
