Wednesday will be hot, and after severe overnight thunderstorms, there's a low chance of storms from central to eastern Oklahoma.

At least 50,000 people were without power this morning. Crews have been working to clean up downed lines and restore power but many remain in the dark this afternoon.

This week will be hot; if you plan to be outside for extended periods, please remember to stay hydrated and apply sunscreen if needed.

What will the weather look like on Wednesday?

The state is dangerously hot today. Remember, heat is the number one weather killer in our country.

Highs will climb into the triple digits with heat index values up to 115 degrees.

We may see additional severe storms later today. Once again, they will be isolated in nature, but they will pose a risk of damaging winds and large hail.

Storm chances are fairly low across central and western Oklahoma, with better rain chances to the east.

A few severe storms can't be ruled out, though the severe threat is low.

What is the weather like for the rest of the week?

The sweltering heat continues through the week, with a not-as-hot front coming this weekend.

The heat hangs around Thursday afternoon. There are more triple digits and 90s across Oklahoma with a hot south wind.
