What is the weather like in Oklahoma on Monday?
It is a pleasant start to the week, and the afternoon looks good too.
Highs on Monday are considered above normal for late September, and it will feel a bit hot by the afternoon.
The Oklahoma City metro will hit the high 80s and low 90s for highs today.
The next nine days look mostly dry. Lows will be in the 50s and low 60s, with highs mostly in the 80s.
We will see a cold front move in on Tuesday, October 1.
HURRICANE HELENE
Meanwhile, Florida is already getting hammered by Hurricane Helene.
Winds were sustained at 140 mph. Helene is now a tropical storm with winds gusting to 90 mph.
The flooding, rain, and tornado threat continues.
Many areas already have over a foot of rain, and much more is coming.
As of 7 AM, well over 3 million customers are without power.
Flooding rain and tornadoes will impact Florida, many states in the South and even the Midwest.
EMSA HEAT SAFETY TIPS
-HYDRATION is key in preventing heat-related illness. Drink plenty of water or electrolyte replacement drinks several hours before and during long exposure to the summer heat.
Wear light-colored, loose fitting clothing and a wide-brimmed hat if working outdoors, and take plenty of shade breaks.
No alcohol or caffeine.
If you do not have air conditioning, find a cooling station or public space (such as libraries or malls) during the day.
Don’t limit your use of air conditioning.
Use the buddy system if working outdoors and check on elderly neighbors.
Keep a cellphone on you at all times when outdoors, including walking, running daily errands, yard work or sports and physical activity.
