Oklahoma City is facing its coldest temperatures of the season as an Arctic front pushes through, bringing freezing rain, gusty winds, and dangerous wind chills.
After a relatively mild Saturday with temperatures in the 50s and near 60, Sunday brought a dramatic shift, ushering in Arctic air that has sent temperatures plunging.
As of this morning, we’ve been below freezing for 24 hours—and we may not climb above freezing until Thursday.
What is the weather like on Tuesday?
If you’re heading out today, bundle up in layers, cover exposed skin, and limit time outdoors if possible.
Get ready for the cold to hang around! Highs in the 20s for many today, lows back into the teens and single digits overnight!
This is pipe-busting weather, so take precautions to protect your home and vehicles from the deep freeze.
What is the weather like this week?
As we look ahead, another storm system is lining up to bring snow later this week, particularly across southern and eastern Oklahoma.
Significant snowfall is possible Thursday into Friday, so stay tuned for updates.
In the meantime, prepare for more frigid days ahead, with temperatures remaining below freezing through Thursday.
A slight warm-up is expected next week, with highs climbing into the 40s.
