It will start to feel like fall this week!

For the next 9 days, temps will hang around in the 70s and possibly 80s.

Today, it will feel like October, with highs only in the 70s!

A few 80s down south. Scattered showers taper off, and we will see sunny skies tomorrow.

Monday night, temps will again drop as we head into Tuesday.

What is the weather like for the rest of the week?

On Tuesday, rain chances go up again. Rain and storms are more likely the further northeast you go across Oklahoma.

Another storm system dives in from the north tomorrow. We will see 80s for highs before it arrives.

Rain and storm chances go up tomorrow afternoon and evening. The highest chances will be east of I-35. While we are watching an upper-level storm move in from the north, a tropical system will become organized over the Gulf of Mexico.

This could become a hurricane Helene later this week. The latest data shows that it will make landfall in the Florida Panhandle late next week.

We will keep a close eye on this in Oklahoma because it could circle back and bring moisture to the Sooner state.

EMSA HEAT SAFETY TIPS

-HYDRATION is key in preventing heat-related illness. Drink plenty of water or electrolyte replacement drinks several hours before and during long exposure to the summer heat.

Wear light-colored, loose fitting clothing and a wide-brimmed hat if working outdoors, and take plenty of shade breaks.

No alcohol or caffeine.

If you do not have air conditioning, find a cooling station or public space (such as libraries or malls) during the day.

Don’t limit your use of air conditioning.

Use the buddy system if working outdoors and check on elderly neighbors.

Keep a cellphone on you at all times when outdoors, including walking, running daily errands, yard work or sports and physical activity.
