Cold Front Hits Oklahoma: Windy & Chilly Monday In Store

As we transition from a warm weekend into a starkly colder week, Oklahoma is bracing for gusty winds and a drop in temperatures that will leave you reaching for your winter gear.

For Thanksgiving, temperatures will top out near 45°F, with crisp morning lows dipping into the 20s.

Here’s what you can expect as November wraps up and December begins.

What is the weather like in Oklahoma on Monday?

The week is kicking off with howling winds and biting cold. Temperatures will hover in the low 40s today, but with winds of 20-30 MPH and gusts reaching up to 35-37 MPH in some areas, the wind chill made it feel like a brisk 32°F. If you’re outside for long, you might feel more like a popsicle than a pedestrian!

By mid-afternoon, highs will struggle to climb above the upper 40s, a sharp contrast from the 75°F we enjoyed on Sunday.

Expect the wind to ease slightly as the day progresses by evening, but the cold is here to stay.

What is the weather like in Oklahoma this week?

Overnight into Tuesday morning, temperatures will plummet to the upper 20s, marking Oklahoma City’s first freeze of the season. Winds will continue to make outdoor activities brisk, so layering up will be crucial. Daytime highs will linger in the mid-to-upper 40s, with another cold front reinforcing the chill by Wednesday night.

As the colder air deepens, there’s a small chance of precipitation midweek. A mix of light rain and potentially snow flurries could move in late Wednesday into early Thursday, but don’t expect much accumulation. The data suggests only trace amounts—just enough to remind us winter is around the corner.

Thanksgiving:

We’re in for some chilly but not freezing weather for Thanksgiving.

A second cold front Wednesday night could bring scattered showers, with a 30% chance of rain overnight.

Thanksgiving Day highs will reach only the mid-40s, with sunshine expected by afternoon.

It’s still early, so watch the forecast as we get closer to Turkey Day.

Black Friday:

Black Friday will be sunny but cold, with temperatures remaining in the 40s.

Shoppers will need to brave early-morning cold before daytime highs reach a modest 46°F.

Weekend Weather:

As the weekend approaches, a new front will bring another surge of cold air, potentially dropping highs to 39°F by Sunday.
