Storms Moving Into NW Oklahoma, Warm Monday Across The State

We're tracking heavy rain and storms in the panhandle Monday morning, and these storms are driven by a strong and compact upper-level low.

What is the weather like on Monday?

On Monday, that storm pushes to the northeast and will likely spark additional thunderstorms. We have another warm afternoon as well, with highs in the 80s.

There will be enough instability and Gulf moisture for strong to severe storms this afternoon and evening.

Trackers will be out and will monitor these storms. Large hail and damaging winds are the primary threats.

The tornado risk is extremely low, but not zero today in northwest Oklahoma.

For the Oklahoma City Metro, we're seeing a slight chance for isolated storms on Monday, with most of the activity expected to weaken as it moves east

Record highs are very possible over the next several days!

EMSA HEAT SAFETY TIPS

HYDRATION is key in preventing heat-related illness. Drink plenty of water or electrolyte replacement drinks several hours before and during long exposure to the summer heat.

Wear light-colored, loose fitting clothing and a wide-brimmed hat if working outdoors, and take plenty of shade breaks.

No alcohol or caffeine.

If you do not have air conditioning, find a cooling station or public space (such as libraries or malls) during the day.

Don’t limit your use of air conditioning.

Use the buddy system if working outdoors and check on elderly neighbors.

Keep a cellphone on you at all times when outdoors, including walking, running daily errands, yard work or sports and physical activity.
