After sitting out all last season, we finally get to see Chet Holmgren play in meaningful games for the Thunder.
Not including Chet, the Thunder return 13 players who have experience when it comes to season openers. A luxury some teams don't have right now.
Thunder head coach, Mark Daigneault says the team is in good spirits ahead of the first game of the season, “The experience is good, but at the same time, I think everyone is ultimately excited at the beginning of the season, you know? But we have to regulate that just like everyone else does. It’s one of those things, that excitement overrules the perspective of going through it. These guys haven’t played basketball together in a really long time.”
And Thunder forward, Jalen Williams said seasons come and go swiftly, “ Everybody’s excited. It comes back really quickly. It feels like we were just at the summer league. And for me, it feels like I was just in Vegas for the U.S.A. team so, it’s gone by really fast. I think everybody’s ready to get it going. 82 games is a lot, but it goes by super fast when you’re playing four days a week.”
This team has playoff aspirations, but tonight it's about getting the job done against Billy Donovan and the Bulls. One year ago, OKC won both games against OKC's old head coach.
