An autopsy has revealed the cause of death of a detainee found dead while in custody at the Oklahoma County Detention Center cell earlier this year.

The OCDC says they found James Fetton, 27, unresponsive around 10:30 a.m. on May 28, 2024, and medical staff were unable to resuscitate him.

After an investigation into his death, an autopsy report shows that he died of acute fentanyl toxicity.

He was being held in the detention center on a $4,000 bond for allegedly failing to appear in court on a burglary charge. He was in custody for 8 days prior to his death.
