As News 9 brought live updates of a standoff in northwest Oklahoma City on Tuesday morning, residents living in the area showed their support and offered assistance to our reporters.

News 9's Deanne Stein was on the front lawn of a residence near North Pennsylvania Avenue and Northwest 36th Street when someone living there brought out water for her and our crew.

The standoff, which began after an armed suspect barricaded himself inside of a home in the area, resulted in one Oklahoma City Police Officer being shot.

That officer was taken to a local hospital, and is currently in surgery.

OCPD said the suspect is not alone inside the home, and has his wife and three children there as well.

Oklahoma City Police have amassed a large presence outside of the home, and are urging the public to stay clear of the area for their own safety, and as to not interfere with police operations.
