Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigations is investigating the conduct of two Watonga police officers who have been accused of violating the rights of a man they detained.

Blaine County Sheriff Travis Daugherty called for the two officers to be placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation. This stems from an incident that happened on July 4, 2024.

In a letter to Blaine County citizens, Daugherty said:

" I felt the best course of action now is to remove these officers from the equation until the district attorney's office and city leaders decide the best outcome will be I will now be involved because the citizens are not having their voices heard and we are getting continual threats."

Daugherty did not make any further comments on the initial incident.
