A warm and windy Tuesday combined with ongoing drought conditions has led to dangerous wildfires sparking across Oklahoma on Tuesday.

In Osage County, authorities are asking residents near Pawhuska between Farrell Avenue to Lynn and Skyline to LB May to evacuate due to the fire.

"Please avoid the area and let crews work," the sheriff's office shared on social media.

Several homes have reportedly been lost from the wildfires in that area.

OSCO, as of 9:40 p.m., asked people to avoid Skyline Drive due to the heavy traffic. Authorities said the fire has been contained in that area.

The National Weather Service said northeastern Osage County is under a Fire Warning and that the Pawhuska fire has become increasingly dangerous, spreading north.

"Prepare to evacuate quickly if instructed to do so and follow all safety instructions from local emergency management officials. Do not drive into smoke," NWS Tulsa reported.

In Payne County, the NWS also issued a Fire Warning due to a wildfire near Cushing, but as of 5:50 p.m. that has expired.

Oklahoma Forestry Services said so far, about 3,000 acres have burned and that two large air tankers are engaging in structure protection using retardant.
