Kristin Chenoweth, the beloved singer, actor, and author, sat down with News On 6 this week to discuss her personal life and her illustrious career.

The conversation touched on Chenoweth's recent marriage, her role in the upcoming "Wicked" movie, and her upcoming holiday projects.

Kristin Chenoweth recently shared insights into her marriage and her excitement for the upcoming 'Wicked' movie, where Ariana Grande plays Glinda. Reflecting on her wedding and her successful career, she recalls serendipitously meeting her husband at a family wedding. Chenoweth is also looking forward to her Netflix Christmas movie and a special concert in her hometown of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, after rescheduling due to COVID.

A Whirlwind Romance

Chenoweth revealed that she met her husband, Josh Bryant, through a serendipitous encounter at her niece's wedding. As she explained,

"My niece was going to Oklahoma University, and his band was playing her sorority, and she was getting married, and she called, she told my brother that she wanted to hire that band for her wedding. And so they called the agency and got him hired. And I show up to the wedding and I see them playing, and I was like, 'Who's that? He's so darling.'"

The couple's first date was at a Waffle House, which Chenoweth described as "perfect." She added, "I think I knew he was the one for me when I just wanted breakfast for dinner, I just wanted to eat breakfast, and he was like, let's go. Wow, it was. That was perfect."

Reflecting on her Wedding Day

Chenoweth admitted that she never thought she would have a big wedding, saying,

"I thought I would never do a big wedding or even get I thought I would just go to the work courthouse because I didn't. I never thought I would get married," said Chenoweth.

However, when she met Bryant, her perspective changed.

"Both sets of parents are still with us, and we wanted to just really do it, not as much, even for them, but for our family, for us, but for our families. And the wedding turned out to be everything that we ever dreamed for us. We thought it was perfect," she said.

The "Wicked" Legacy

As the conversation turned to Chenoweth's iconic role as Glinda in the Broadway production of "Wicked," the actress expressed her excitement for the upcoming film adaptation.

"I could be wrong. I'm very, I'm a pretty harsh critic when it comes to this kind of thing. I really think that it's going to be nominated for several awards and possibly win. I mean, it's just so special, and it's a love letter to our show," said Chenoweth.

Chenoweth also reflected on her long-standing relationship with her co-star, Idina Menzel, and revealed that she has known Ariana Grande, who will play Glinda in the film since she was 10 years old.

"She said, I want to play Glinda one day. And then she got the audition during COVID, and we squealed, and she got the part," she said.

Upcoming Projects and a Homecoming

In addition to the "Wicked" movie, Chenoweth is also excited about her upcoming Netflix Christmas movie, set to premiere on Nov. 27. She also shared her plans to return to her hometown of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, for a special concert on Dec. 7, saying,

"I had to cancel my concert during COVID, and I hadn't had the opportunity to make it up. So I'm finally getting to come home for Christmas and to see my relatives and just be home. And I can't wait. I'm so excited," said Chenoweth.
