Suspect Identified in double homicide, shooting involving Muskogee law enforcement; Muskogee officers on leave

Two people are dead after two separate shootings in Muskogee County Saturday night. Lighthorse Police shot the suspect during a chase after officers said that the suspect shot at officers. 

Police previously identified the suspect as Aaron Bogar, but released new information identifying the suspect as Aaron O’Neal Wilson, 26.

Deadly shooting at recycling center in Oktaha

According to the Muskogee County Sheriff’s Office, Wilson is accused of shooting two women at a recycling business in Oktaha. One of the women died, while the other was treated for her injuries and released.

Deadly shooting in Muskogee

Police say Wilson was then involved in another shooting in Muskogee near 24th Street and Topeka Avenue before fleeing from officers.

When officers arrived on the scene they found the victim, Rolando Donta McConnell lying in the street with gunshot wounds. Officers attempted to help McConnell who was then taken to a Muskogee hospital where he later died.

Chase and officer-involved shooting

Witnesses to the Muskogee shooting were able to describe the suspect, Wilson, and the vehicle he was driving. Law enforcement spotted the vehicle and a muti-agency pursuit began involving Muscogee (Creek) Nation Lighthorse Police, Muskogee Police Department, and the Muskogee County Sheriff’s Office.

According to MPD, the suspect fired shots at the officers during the pursuit and after the pursuit ended he got out of his car and continued to fire rounds at the officers, who then fired back hitting him.

Wilson was taken to the hospital. No officers were injured in the shooting.

The Muskogee Police Department identified two of its officers involved in the shooting as Sergeant Bryan Wilkins and Officer Darien Allen. Both officers are on routine paid administrative leave.

Muscogee (Creek) Nation has confirmed that at least two Lighthorse Police officers were involved in the shooting as well but details have not been released on their leave status.

No officers were injured.
