OKLAHOMA CITY -- A seven-year-old boy is recovering from serious injuries after he was attacked by a dog nearly three times his size.
Jayden Pierce now has multiple staples in his head and medical glue across his face, but his doctors said it could have been much worse if a neighborhood teen didn't stop the attack.
Sean Orcutt, a 16-year-old neighbor, pulled a 150-pound Bullmastiff off of Jayden.
"It scared me," Orcutt said. "I couldn't get the fence open."
Several neighbors said they witnessed Orcutt hurdle onto, then over a live electrical fence to tackle the dog, who had Jayden's head in his jaw.
"I had the dog by the collar, pinned against the ground," Orcutt said.
Jayden now calls Orcutt his hero.
"He helped me and he got the dog off of me," Jayden said.
Jayden's mother, Sonya Pierce, also sees Orcutt as a hero.
"Very courageous young man," Pierce said. "I'm so thankful for him."
The dog had no history of attacks, but the owners chose to put him down shortly after the attack.
