As the health department has seen COVID numbers rise again, doctors at Variety Care are experiencing the same.
“It's not gone away. COVID has not gone away,” Dr. Sandra Gilliland, the director of Clinical Quality said.
Among the increase in cases are numerous people in the 18-34 age group, according to Gilliland.
“I am worried that the rates are going up now, and it's happening even before school has opened up again. It's happening before we see the cooler weather which brings on the traditional respiratory season,” Gilliland said.
With the trend causing concern, doctors at Variety Care are reminding people to wash hands, social distance, and wear masks.
“Maybe it's been kind of confusing. Wearing a mask is something that you can do to help protect the people around you,” Gilliland said.
The doctor also recommends preparing mentally for future closures or quarantines, looking into mental health resources and exploring telemedicine options.
“This is the time to be reaching out and asking for help with coping with this mentally,” Gilliland said.
