A mother stopped to help a shooting victim who was left in the middle of Martin Luther King Avenue on Friday.
Oklahoma City police are investigating the shooting that stemmed from a road rage argument.
The shooting happened as families were going to nearby the zoo and Oklahoma Science Museum.
Matt Anderson’s wife was stopped at the intersection of Martin Luther King Avenue and Remington Place when they witnessed the incident.
“They were across the intersection from the red Mustang and saw them fighting or arguing,” said Matt Anderson, witness’s husband.
Anderson's wife and two children were going to the science museum when the person driving the red Mustang was shot. Anderson's wife saw the victim stumble back to his car.
“My wife pulled up next to him and saw that he was bleeding,” said Anderson. “And (she) went and put pressure on the wound until police and fire arrived.”
While she helped the victim, another person called 911. Witnesses told police the suspect was driving a maroon colored pickup that was stopped at the light.
"During that altercation the victim was shot,” said Oklahoma City police Sgt. Megan Morgan. “The suspect fled the scene and the victim was transported to a local hospital where he is in critical condition but stable.”
The good Samaritan told her husband the victim was in pretty bad shape.
“There was a hole in his side under his ribs,” said Anderson. “And he couldn’t talk and he was foaming at the mouth.”
While investigators were at the scene, officers went looking for the suspect.
“Officers were able to track down that suspect, and currently, that suspect is in police custody,” said Morgan.
Police have not released the suspect's name yet.
At last check, the victim did not have to go into surgery and was alert and talking at the hospital.
