An Oklahoma City man was arrested on Wednesday and is accused of killing his on-again, off-again girlfriend.
Investigators found the body of Tawny King, 35, more than two hours away in Stringtown, Oklahoma.
According to court documents filed in Oklahoma County, King filed for a protective order against Derrick Brown, 32, in June.
Brown was arrested on the southwest side of the city on a first-degree murder complaint and then booked into the Oklahoma County jail.
Brown is accused of killing King somewhere in the metro and taking her body to a vacant home in Stringtown, located in Atoka County. .
“They’re still working on what led up to this,” said Master Sgt. Gary Knight, Oklahoma City Police Department. “Why it happened and where exactly it took place in Oklahoma City.”
The victim noted in the protective order she was terrified for her life. Brown had previously been arrested for stalking and domestic assault and battery by strangulation.
Investigators are asking the public to call the Oklahoma City Police Department’s homicide tip line at 405-297-1200 if they have any information that could help the investigation.
