Giving Tuesday is an annual event that brings awareness to non-profits across the community.
The day is especially important for the Regional Food Bank During COVID-19.
Pre-pandemic, they say Oklahoma was already ranked as the fifth hungriest state in the nation.
The Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma say for every $1 donated this Giving Tuesday, 12 meals will be provided for for Oklahomans living with hunger.
If someone can't donate, the food bank says there are other ways to help out.
Currently, their volunteer center remains closed due to COVID-19. However, the food bank says this year people can give back by starting a food drive of their own, or spreading awareness through social media.
“It really helps to turn that focus from internal to external, and look around in your community to see what it is you need to do to be generous,” says Cathy Nestlen from the Regional Food Bank.
For anyone who still wants to donate to the food bank, they can always do so online.
