For some drivers, racing in the Chili Bowl is the chance of a lifetime. For one Broken Arrow family, the race is much more than flipping up dirt and racing for a golden driller.
Everyone that competes in the Chili Bowl wants to bring home the golden driller but for the Goodman family, the race is much more. It’s a chance to share a bond between father and two sons, bringing back a lifetime of memories on every turn.
"I get to spend hours upon hours with my dad and my brother doing the same thing that we all love,” midget driver Lane Goodman said.
“I feel blessed that I get those opportunities and to do it side by side as my brother as well,” midget driver Avery Goodman said.
Memories and lessons about life – it’s a perfect combo for the Goodman’s.
"Mike Goodman/Midget Driver: “What I instill in both of them whatever your passion is and if their kids have the same passion if they don't than will pursue whatever passion is to,” Mike Goodman, midget driver and Lane & Avery’s father said.
Regardless of the outcome, it’s the love of family that brings home the checkered flag for the Goodman’s.
“Even if we don't have the best of nights, at the end of the night we are all still together, we are all still having a good time and that’s what counts really,” Lane said.
