Tulsa Police are investigating a murder-suicide after they found a mother and her three-year-old daughter dead.
Officers said a maintenance worker found a 24-year-old mother and her three-year-old daughter dead inside an apartment near 61st and Peoria.
Police said that Sharaiveon Williams shot and killed her daughter, then herself.
"Losing a child is tragic, losing a child because of the acts of a parent is even worse," Tulsa Police Captain Richard Meulenberg said.
Meulenberg said the tragic incident today had a profound effect on every one of his officers.
"We are treating this as a murder, suicide, we don't have much as far as reasoning," Meulenberg said.
Police responded to the Saint Thomas Square Apartments a little before 2:30 p.m. Friday. Investigators said family members contacted the apartment complex today to check on Williams, after not hearing from her for days.
That's when the maintenance worker found Williams and her daughter dead inside the apartment.
Police said Williams shot and killed her daughter, then shot herself.
"We don't know what this happened today, it's tragic and sad, it did happen, and we are working it," Meulenberg said.
Police spent several hours interviewing witnesses. Captain Meulenberg said as terrible as these crimes are, officers will still do everything they can to get answers for the family.
Police are waiting on forensic analysis to determine when the mother and daughter died.
