A man is behind bars after allegedly holding his wife hostage for more than 10 hours. The standoff happened Sunday at a home in Chickasha and ended peacefully.
Chickasha police said they got a call from Terry Gunnoe just before 5 a.m., telling officers that he'd been involved in a domestic with his wife.
"When officers arrived, they discovered that they had a subject who had barricaded himself in the house and was not allowing his spouse to leave the residence or go anywhere," said Scott Weaver, with the Chickasha Police Department.
"It became quickly apparent that we had a hostage situation ongoing," said Kathryn Rowell, Chickasha Police Chief.
Officers set up a perimeter around the home, as Grady County and Canadian County Units came out to assist. Police said the next step was to get negotiators.
"As negotiations progress sometimes, they go back a little bit, the person doesn't do what they say they're going to do," Weaver said. "When that happens, we got to go back to square one, to continue to talk to the person."
After around 12 hours, Gunnoe finally gave himself up to police.
"He has had some ongoing physical and mental type issues going and so that may be what stirred part of this up," said Rowell.
It's uncertain if Gunnoe was armed, but police said his wife had been tied up. They said she's expected to be OK.
Police said Gunnoe will be booked into the Grady County jail.
