Just as things were looking up for one business owner, a fire ignited inside his club in Bricktown.
The owner told News 9 thankfully no one was in the club on Saturday when it caught fire and there was no structural damage to the building. The club looks OK from outside, but inside, repairs are needed.
Saturday, a person walking by Senor Shots noticed smoke coming out of the Latin Club.
The owner rushed down to Bricktown as firefighters worked to put out the flames.
“I got to the point where I almost wanted to laugh. It has been one thing after another after another and just like what do you do? You can’t complain about it everyone has their problems,” Erik Deloera, the owner of Senor Shots in Bricktown said. “Everyone has issues going on, that’s all we know how to do is bounce back.”
He said it's been a tough year, the club opened two months before the COVID-19 shutdown but was able to weather the storm and buy the unit next door to expand.
“Funny part is that the new section that we named it is named Fuego, you know so what are the odds? I guess our club gets that lit,” said the owner.
Fuego opened on Cinco De Mayo. He said thankfully that part of the club is still open for business while they look into fixing the smoke damage caused by the fire. In the meantime, he is staying positive and counting his blessings.
“It’s just adding to the stories we get to tell our grandchildren one day. We are just blessed that no one got hurt and we can try and do it again this weekend,” Deloera said.
The fire department is still looking into what caused the fire, but the owner said more than likely it was caused by old electrical wiring.
