A Canadian County jury found Zachary Huber guilty of first-degree murder Tuesday, after the El Reno man refused to appear for trial.
According to online court records, Judge Paul Hesse wrote that Huber “refused to be brought to court from jail,” and that he “waived his right to appear for trial.”
The jury recommended a sentence of life in prison without parole. Huber will be sentenced October19.
The murder charge stems from a fatal shooting at Ruddie’s Quick Stop on West Elm Street.
Security footage from Sept. 14, 2018 shows a man, later identified as 25-year-old Huber, target Ryan Johnson.
Huber shoots from his vehicle at a gas pump towards Johnson, who is next to his parked car outside the store.

The first shots breakthrough Johnson’s window. Footage shows Huber move closer to Johnson and fire several shots.
Johnson, 35, died from the injuries.
Huber is seen on camera driving away from the scene, despite a good Samaritan jumping on the hood of his car in an attempt to stop him.
