Guthrie police are investigating the shooting death of a 14-year-old boy.
Officers have not confirmed the child's identity, but according to family, the name of the teen is Antwoine Watson.
On Monday, his stepmom, Dorothy Shea, called the shooting senseless.
"Little Antwoine, he was so cool," said Shea.
Antwoine's brothers and Shea will forever remember the teen as caring, funny and a talented athlete.
A phone call is how Shea said she found out about the shooting.
"I can't believe something so senseless happened," said Shea. "To take away one of our children from us, take away his grandma's grandson when he's already lost his mom."
"It's like one second he was here and the next second he was gone," said Antwoine's brother, Carmine Watson.
Police said about 5 p.m. Sunday night, they got a call that a shooting victim was in a car near 4th Street and Highway 33.
"Our officers responded and what they found through the investigation was that the shooting actually occurred off of East Grant," said Guthrie police Sgt. Anthony Gibbs.
That's about a mile away from the bridge where the family member driving the teen flagged down an ambulance.
"We had two different crime scenes," said Gibbs. "One because unfortunately the juvenile died on scene, even with all the medical care they were able to give."
The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation was called in to help.
Early Monday morning, police told News 9 a search warrant was served and they took a 16-year-old in for questioning.
Later, police told News 9 the teen had been released, and officers were still processing the scene on East Grant.
"Justice will be served," said Shea.
Antwoine's stepmom told News 9 as they grieve, she's hoping the community will reach out through their GoFundMe.
"I want him to have the best funeral," said Shea. "He deserves it. He didn't deserve to die the way he did."
Antwoine was a former student in the Coyle School District but was most recently enrolled with Epic.
On Monday, the Coyle school district posted resources to help students deal with the sudden loss.
