A man was arrested after a road rage altercation led to a shooting.

Sean McMann, 42, was arrested Friday after being charged with one count of assault with a dangerous weapon.

Garvin County deputies said it all started on July 19 at the Washita River Bridge, west of Wynnewood, where two lanes in each direction turned into one.

“The truck had tried to hit us on the side after her husband (McMann) had tried to go in front of us and she had tried to merge on top of us,” said Aaron White, a passenger in the victim’s car. “We got in the other lane and her husband (McMann) ended up cutting us off and making us pull over.”

McMann and another driver eventually pulled over and began fighting at intersection of Highway 29 and Highway 77.

During the altercation, deputies said McMann went back to his vehicle and got a handgun. McMann is accused of shooting the victim’s tire as they drove away.

“We didn’t think that they actually hit us until we pulled up to my mom’s house. We got out, (and) the whole tire was flat,” said White.

Court records indicate the gun McMann claimed his gun was stolen from Oklahoma City.

While nobody was seriously hurt, deputies said in any road rage situation, that can easily be a different story.

“We’ve got to keep our cool, keep our head about it and rise above it,” said Garvin County Sheriff Jim Mullett. “Come out the victor on the end, because you went home and you’re not landing yourself in jail.”

McMann remains behind bars at the Garvin County jail on a $20,000 bond.

A victim involved in the altercation is a tribal member. Mullett said charges were delayed as federal authorities reviewed the case.
