A consulting firm hired to review Oklahoma City police policies will present its final recommendations to the Law Enforcement Policy Task Force.

The nearly 50 members of the Task Force will review the final draft of recommendations on community policing. That was put together by consulting firm 21 CP solutions.

The city has been working with this firm since the beginning of this year, and they have suggested changes or improvements to a wide range of topics including expanding the board that reviews use of force cases, to better youth outreach.

Other major focuses would include improvements in OCPD's de-escalation policies and changes to their protocols for officer involved shootings.

Consultants previously recommended a shorter waiting period for interviewing officers involved in shootings.

They also say officers should be prohibited from viewing their bodycam footage before those interviews.

OCPD chief Wade Gourley told News 9 earlier this year, that is something he can get on board with.

“I do support, on its face, that the officers should be interviewed prior to viewing the body-worn camera,” Gourley said.

When the Law Enforcement Policy Task force approves the final draft of recommendations, it will then go to city council for approval.
