An Oklahoma County jail inmate died Monday in an Oklahoma City hospital, the detention center officials said.
Lucas Gonzales, 27, was taken to a hospital after being found unresponsive in his cell.
About 3:50 p.m. Monday, inmates cleaning a pod alerted jail officers to Gonzales' cell. Officers and medical personnel began live-saving efforts and called for an ambulance.
Paramedics and firefighters continued CPR and took Gonzales to a hospital. Gonzales died shortly before 5 p.m.
Gonzales interacted with an officer about an hour before he was found unresponsive.
Investigators are unsure how Gonzales died.
Gonzales was booked into the jail on Oct. 16.
The state medical examiner's office will determine Gonzales' cause of death, and the detention center special investigations unit will investigate what led up to Gonzales' death.
