A man is now behind bars after a manhunt earlier this week in Jones.

Police said two people are accused of stealing a vehicle along with several catalytic converters.

It happened early Monday morning near Barnes and East Britton Road. The officer at the scene said once the two men ran, one of them went across the street into this wooded area. The officer quickly called for assistance.

"Oklahoma City was able to bring out Air One, along with a K-9," said Jones police Maj. Bryan Farrington. "There was a long track for the individual, with no luck could not find him."

According to video, officers were walking through the area for hours, even moving through abandoned buildings to try and track the suspect down.

Jones police said the search was eventually called off until later in the morning when they spotted a man walking along the street matching their suspect description.

"When we made contact with that individual, he did have a felony warrant out for his arrest," said Farrington. "We arrested him on that warrant, brought him back here for questioning for which time he did admit to us being in the vehicle."

He was booked into the Oklahoma County Detention Center, but they are still looking for the other suspect.

Inside the stolen vehicle, police found several catalytic converters and officers even saw tools commonly used to cut these converters off vehicles.

Farrington told News 9 they've seen an increase in these types of thefts before.

"There is material worth a lot of money when they go to recycle these," Farrington said. "It's a way for them to make quick cash."

Because of the ongoing investigation, the man arrested has not been identified yet.
