Two additional OKCPS schools are shifting to virtual learning.

Coolidge Elementary and Taft Middle School join Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary and FD Moon Middle School, who went virtual last week.

Students from all four schools will be learning virtually on their own, at least through Friday.

The district says a significant number of students and teachers are out sick due to COVID and other illnesses.

For many teachers across the state, the rise of COVID in the classroom is causing frustration and uncertainty for the future.

That includes 22-year teaching veteran Jami Cole, who's already caught COVID twice since the pandemic started.

The first time the virus sent her to the hospital.

"I know we’re up to 6,000 cases per day," said Jami Cole, a teacher. "That numbers terrifying."

OKPCS says they hope to return to in-person learning for these four schools starting next Tuesday January 18th.
