The American Red Cross is urging people to donate blood amid a nationwide blood shortage.
The organization said donations drop this time of year due to winter weather cancelling blood drives and people getting sick.
The American Red Cross said out of the 60% of Americans who are eligible to donate blood, only about 3% do.
Matt Trotter, regional communications director for the American Red Cross, said the organization would like to see more people donate this year.
"We would really like to see those people in the new year," Trotter said. "Maybe make a resolution to roll up their sleeve and help some people out."
