10-Year-Old Girl Accidentally Shoots Herself In SW OKC

A child is in the hospital after an accidental shooting in a neighborhood in Southwest Oklahoma City, according to Oklahoma City police. 

The shooting happened on Southwest 84th Street near Villa just after seven Wednesday evening. A police spokesperson says the child shot herself in the nose.  

An ambulance took her to a nearby hospital.   Police say the incident is a reminder to parents -- unattended guns should be kept unloaded. Guns and ammunition should be stored separately.   

All firearms should be kept in a secure place where children can't get to them. Oklahoma City Police say the girl is expected to be okay.
