Police identified the shooting victim as 69-year-old Douglas Smith.

Investigators said on Thursday that the deadly interaction between the victim and 32-year-old Domonique Thompson unfolded in Smith’s office.

Thompson later died following a pursuit that ended in Kingfisher County.

Dispatch:

“All units be advised Southwest has an ADW with medical at the Hobby Lobby, it’s going to be an active shooter.”

The active shooter call came in just before 5 p.m. Officers surrounded the massive complex near southwest 44th and Council Road.

“Police arrived, took precautions,” Sgt. Dillon Quirk with the Oklahoma City Police Department said. “Began clearing the buildings looking for a suspect.”

That was when officers found the body of Hobby Lobby employee Douglas Smith. Police said Smith was the suspect’s supervisor.

Officer:

“We do have on that appears deceased in this office.”

Police learned Smith and Thompson were in a work-related argument when Thompson went out to his car and grabbed a gun. Thompson went back into the building and shot Smith. Witnesses told police that Thompson fled the scene in a red car.

Dispatch:

“Black male in a red hoodie, he has a red Dodge Challenger. He was last seen heading northbound from (inaudible)."

Police turned their attention to locating the suspect. Hours later officers spotted Thompson at a gas station near I-35 and Highway 51. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol and five other agencies became involved in a pursuit with Thompson. The suspect crashed in a field in Kingfisher County.

“At some point the vehicle lost control on its own,” said Trooper Eric Foster, Oklahoma Highway Patrol. “There was no TVI or indication of anything else. The vehicle lost control and then rolled.”

Authorities said Thompson was deceased inside his car and the state medical examiner will determine how he died. Police said no gunshots were exchanged between officers and the suspect.
