Oklahoma City Police identified the suspect accused of dragging a woman into his motel room and causing an hours-long standoff.

The 19-year-old woman was walking from the front office back to her room at Plaza Inn at 3200 South I-35 Service Road early Tuesday morning. That was when 41-year-old Kaal Williams grabbed her and dragged her into his room, said police. Williams said he was going to set her on fire and kill her, investigators added.

"She was pulled into the hotel room and attempted to - some personal belongings were attempted to be taken from her," said Sgt. Dillon Quirk, assistant public information officer at the Oklahoma City Police Department. "She was able to get away and call 911."

Police responded at about 4 a.m. They said when patrol officers arrived, they were able to safely get the woman from the room. But Williams threw a chair through the room window toward the officers before barricading himself in the bathroom, said investigators.

"The person inside the hotel room, based on the behavior that they were displaying, it appeared that this person was under narcotics of some kind," Quirk said.

Police deployed the tactical team to take Williams into custody.

"Methods were used by our tactical unit. Some gas was introduced into the room. The standoff of a few hours occurred as we were attempting to get this person to come out peacefully," said Quirk.

Williams was taken to a hospital, where officers were waiting for medical clearance before he could be taken to the Oklahoma County Detention Center, police said. He faced possible charges of kidnapping, threatening act of violence and distruction of property.

A glass shard cut the leg of a member of the tactical team when he was stepping through the broken window, said Police Chief Wade Gourley. The wound required stitches.
