Man Dies After Medical Episode While In Police Custody

A man has died after a medical episode while in police custody on Tuesday, according to Oklahoma City Police.

Police said they responded to the scene just before 6 p.m. near Northwest 4th Street and North Hudson Avenue regarding a named man on the sidewalk.

The man was taken into custody before officers determined he was experiencing a mental health crisis.

The man was transported to the Oklahoma County Crisis Intervention Center where officers put clothes on the man to go inside.

Police said the main collapsed and was transported to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.

There was no use of force at any point during this incident.

Police have not yet identified the man.
