A man has been arrested after a shooting and a four-hour long standoff involving multiple agencies Monday night in Blackwell, Oklahoma.
Blackwell Police said they responded to the scene at around 9:45 p.m. after reports of a man who was attempting to flag down vehicles near North 29th Street and West Doolin Avenue.
The suspect, Mike Cook, 56, fired shots at officers when they made contact with him.
Police said Cook tried to get inside of a trailer home near the area.
Kay County deputies, Ponca City Police, Blackwell Fire and Kaw Nation authorities were called to assist police on this incident.
Police set up a perimeter and launched a drone over the area.
At around 10:44 p.m., police said Cook was shot in the foot.
After a standoff, Cook was arrested at around 2:45 a.m. and transported to the hospital.
According to police, Cook has not been booked into jail because he is being treated at a hospital for his injuries. Once he is released from the hospital, he will be booked into the Kay County Detention Facility.
No officers were injured during the incident.
An officer was placed on administrative leave while the incident is being investigated.
