'A Friend To Everybody': Brittany Brewer Laid To Rest After Henryetta Tragedy

Hugs, tears and sharing fond memories: Hundreds of people attended the funeral and burial of 15-year-old Brittany Brewer, one of the victims in a mass murder-suicide near Henryetta.

The funeral service took place Wednesday morning at Henryetta High School's gym. 

Although cameras were not allowed inside the building, News 9 attended the service and heard Brewer's youth pastor speak highly of the 15-year-old.

The youth pastor said Brewer, a student at Henryetta Middle School and a member of the school choir, was artistic, creative, compassionate, competitive, responsible and enjoyed looking out for people around her.

Family friend Joyce Henderson said she saw those traits firsthand.

"She was very close to her siblings. She's got two little sisters and was always helpful with them, helpful with her parents, but the same way in church," Henderson said. "She helped everybody. She was very involved in all of our fundraisers."

Investigators said Brewer was one of six victims killed by 39-year-old Jesse McFadden before he turned the gun on himself. Authorities found their bodies on May 1 outside McFadden's home on a property near Henryetta.

Other victims included McFadden's wife, 35-year-old Holly McFadden, her three children - 13-year-old Tiffany Guess, 15-year-old Michael Mayo and 17-year-old Rylee Allen - and 14-year-old Ivy Webster, investigators said.

Jesse McFadden was convicted of first-degree rape in 2003 in Pittsburg County and served 17 years in prison. While McFadden was still behind bars for the rape conviction, he was charged in 2017 for allegedly using a contraband cell phone to send nude photos and have sexual conversations with a minor. He was scheduled for a jury trial in Muskogee County on May 1 on those allegations.

"It hurts on law enforcement side and on family's side so just looking forward to be there for each other," Theran Richards, a Henryetta police officer and president of the local chapter of America's Guardians Motorcycle Club, said.

Richards and other members of the motorcycle club attended Brewer's funeral.

"We're in the community a lot, Mr. Brewer and the family, you know, in the community and stuff. So we do come across each other once in a while. So the more that we can show support to the family, let them know that there is people out there, the better off we are," Richards said.

Following the funeral service, a horse-drawn carriage brought Brewer's casket to Westlawn Cemetery for interment.

"She was just a friend to everybody," Henderson said. "Just always a real bubbly personality."

Brewer's youth pastor said the best way to honor her legacy is to emulate her qualities, such as her willingness to help her family without being asked, her mentorship to kids, and her ability to show people she loved them through her actions.
