A pedestrian was hit and killed by a vehicle involved in a chase with police Wednesday morning in southeast Oklahoma City, police said.
Oklahoma City Police said they were attempting to initiate a traffic stop on a vehicle travelling eastbound on Southeast 29th Street, when the vehicle fled at a "high speed."
Police said a pedestrian crossing Southeast 29th Street was struck by the fleeing vehicle and was later found dead by police.
Police said the high speed of the fleeing vehicle made it dangerous to follow, so they called off the pursuit.
Officers said they later found the fleeing vehicle near Southeast 29th Street and South Lindsay Avenue, but the driver was nowhere to be found.
Police said the victim was an adult male, but have not released any additional information.
Investigators said they are searching for the driver at this time, however no description of the driver has been released.
This is a developing story.
