A traffic stop early Thursday morning turned into a shooting during a struggle over a gun in southwest Oklahoma City. The officer involved in the overnight traffic stop was not injured when the suspect's gun went off.

The officer pulled a car over for a traffic stop near Southwest 26th Street and May Avenue just after midnight. The officer noticed the driver, 34-year-old Logan Hathaway, was acting odd during the stop and did not have a driver's license. Police said when Hathaway stepped out of the car, he took off running.
“Our officer chased him a short distance and was able to contact him,” said Sgt. Rob Robertson with the Oklahoma City Police Department. “They went to the ground in a struggle and during the struggle the suspect produced a gun which went off during the struggle.”
No one was injured when the gun went off, and there was no damage to nearby buildings from the gunfire. Police said while the officer and Hathaway were on the ground, passenger Robin Palma took off in the car, and the second passenger, Alfonso Rodriguez, ran on foot from the scene.
“They were located a few miles west of here,” said Robertson. “Both were taken into custody and that vehicle was recovered.”
The suspects were booked into the Oklahoma County Detention Center on various criminal complaints.
