Two people have died in a wrong-way crash that happened Thursday night on Interstate 40 near downtown Oklahoma City, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

The crash happened at around 9 p.m. on the eastbound lanes of I-40 near South Pennsylvania Avenue.

Troopers have identified 61-year-old Julie Avants from Midwest City as one of the victims who died in the crash.

A vehicle was driving in the wrong direction when they hit Avants' vehicle head on, OHP said. Troopers said the wrong-way driver then hit a concrete barrier before the vehicle burst into flames.

The driver of the other vehicle has not been identified.
