A metro man was jailed after what police said was a random attack on three women in Oklahoma City’s Plaza District. The brutal attack was caught on camera outside a bar shortly after midnight last Friday. Police said one of the victims had to be transported by EMSA to a local hospital.

The video released by Oklahoma City police on Wednesday is hard to watch. The two victims walking near northwest 16th and Gatewood Avenue never saw Adam Hartico, 33, coming.

“It’s unclear why exactly he chose to do this,” Oklahoma City Police Department Sgt. Dillon Quirk said, “It was a completely unprovoked thing.”

After Hartico slammed the victims' heads together he could be seen walking back and dealt another blow to one of the helpless victims on the ground.

Two men attempted to go after the suspect after witnessing the sudden and violent assault but the suspect was able to get away.

The victims told investigators they suffered head trauma and memory loss. According to court documents, the woman kicked in the face has a broken nose and severe bruising and swelling on her face.

Business owners near the incident told News 9 off camera they were horrified when they watched the video of the attack.

The Plaza District Association’s Executive Director Rachael Leonhart sent at statement saying, “Our hearts go out to the victims and their families in the wake of this senseless, random attack. We are grateful that Oklahoma City Police apprehended the suspect quickly. This incident is a reminder that, despite significant efforts to make our district safe and welcoming to all, we continue to see an increasing need for our city, county, state, and federal governments to invest in better mental health resources.”

"The suspect was ultimately identified through means of the investigation just a short time after the attack happened,” Quirk said

Hartico was arrested and booked into jail on two counts of aggravated assault and battery and one count of assault and battery.

Police said Hartico attacked another woman in a Plaza District parking lot by attempting to pull her out of her vehicle hours before the other attack.
