Police Investigating Two NE OKC Domestic-Related Shootings

Police are investigating two domestic-related shootings on the northeast side of the city that were only blocks apart. The accused female shooters are currently in custody at the Oklahoma County Detention Center and their victims were taken to local hospitals.

The shootings broke out last Friday and were only a few hours apart. Police said in no way were the shootings connected.

Bob Mills Sky News 9 flew over a convenience store at Northeast 23rd Street and North Lottie Avenue. Police were called after a drive-by shooting in the store's parking lot involving a recently separated couple. The 21-year-old victim was loaded into an ambulance with a non-life-threatening injury to his left leg.

“Officers arrived on scene, and learned there was an altercation between the two,” said Sgt. Dillon Quirk, Oklahoma City Police Department. “It escalated to the female half shooting the male half.”

The victim told officers his ex-girlfriend Briana Beller, 23, shot at him several times. Witnesses told police Beller fired at the victim from the backseat of a car. Police said Beller and the driver later admitted to their part in the shooting. Both were taken into custody.

“About three hours later police responded to northeast 36th and Lottie at an apartment complex,” said Quirk.  

Officers found the victim on the ground and citizens holding down 27-year-old Brianna Smith-Alexander. Police found a gun next to Alexander. Witnesses told police the suspect showed up to the complex and shattered the victim's glass front door with her gun. According to an affidavit, witnesses showed officers a fight that led to the shooting. Smith-Alexander allegedly fired point-blank at the victim and then stood over him shooting. Police noted in the affidavit that it appeared Smith-Alexander was trying to kill the victim.

“The victim was struck three times at that shooting,” said Quirk. 

Police said the victim in that shooting survived. The woman arrested faces one complaint of shooting with intent to kill.
