McIntyre Law Firm gave out over 2,000 free turkeys this morning for their annual Day of Kindness event.
One hundred people were lined up outside of Southern Hills Baptist Church in Oklahoma City before sunrise on Friday morning, with hundreds more in expectance.
Noble McIntyre, with McIntyre Law, said their annual Day of Kindness has grown exponentially in the 14 years they have done it.
He said when they started, they gave out 400 boxes of food ahead of Thanksgiving. This year, they are handing out thousands of turkeys as well as grilling out so people can eat today.
“Today, we expect to feed about four or 5,000 people. We're gonna hand out 2,000 turkeys, and it's with the help of the trial lawyers and Association for Justice and help donate we raised 150,000 bucks this year,” McIntyre said.
He said with prices of food rising throughout the years; it is even more important for them to help as many people as they can.
“I think five or six years ago, we paid 79 cents a pound. Last year, I was complaining that it had jumped from $1 to $1.20 because that's a 20% increase. This year we're paying $1.93 a pound and that makes these folks have an even harder time,” McIntyre said.
McIntyre said to save on costs they bought in bulk from Homeland using a gift card promotion.
