Person Rescued From NW Oklahoma City Manhole Cover

Firefighters have rescued a man who became trapped in a manhole cover Thursday morning in northwestern Oklahoma City.

The Oklahoma City Fire Department said they responded to the scene near North Council Road and Northwest Expressway.

Firefighters said residents in the area heard screaming from the manhole cover and called 911.

The man was later removed from the manhole by firefighters using a basket system and was transported to the hospital.

Hazmat and dive teams have were called in to assist with the rescue effort.

It is unknown how the man became trapped at this time.
